SCHOLARLY WORK

Dr. Montalva Barba has been published in a number of leading journals, Critical Sociology and Urban Studies and has gained a name as a leading voice in the sociological study of race and racism, and urban sociology. Currently, his work focuses on White progressives and their connections to settler colonial midsets.

White Supremacy in Progressive America: Race, Place, and Space

Dr. Montalva Barba's book focuses on White progressive gentrifiers and their connections to White supremacy, settler colonialism, and racist structural practices.

Racism in Urban Sociology

Dr. Montalva Barba's publications on the persistence of racism in Urban Sociology and Urban Studies have appeared in Urban Studies and in the Research Handbook for Urban Sociology (edited by Dr. Miguel Martinez).
